API & Model Setup Guide

🌱 Privacy First: This application is 100% free and open-source. Your API key is processed entirely inside your own browser and sent directly to OpenRouter. We never see, store, or transmit your keys.

🔑 Step 1: Get an OpenRouter API Key

Go to the OpenRouter Keys Dashboard ↗.
Create an account or sign in.
Click "Create Key" and copy the generated key (it starts with `sk-or-`).
Paste this key into the API Key input box on the main game page.

🤖 Step 2: Choose a Model Routing Mode

We offer multiple routing modes depending on your preference for speed and cost:

Free Model Routing: Completely cost-free! It routes requests to top open-source models. Note: Generation speeds might vary depending on public traffic.
GPT-5.6 Luna (Paid): Connects directly to OpenAI's fast, cost-efficient Luna model. Ideal for swift and precise responses.
GPT-4o Mini (Paid): Routes requests directly to OpenAI's balanced, economical Mini model.
Auto Model Routing (Paid): Automatically selects the fastest, most cost-effective paid model based on current latency and pricing, paid via your OpenRouter balance.

🔒 Step 3: Security & Budgeting

If you load your OpenRouter account with balance to use the paid models, we highly recommend taking these safety steps in your OpenRouter dashboard:

Set a Limit: Set a strict daily or monthly usage limit on your API Key to prevent accidental over-spending.
Restrict Key Referrer: Limit the key to only be usable from this site's domain.
